San Luis Obispo
San Luis Obispo is approximately halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles in the south, located on the Central Coast of California. In the 2020 census, the population was 47,063 people. Founded by the Spanish in 1772, San Luis Obispo was established when Saint Junípero Serra created Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa. The town grew through the Mexican period before a fast expansion of San Luis Obispo following the American Conquest of California. San Luis Obispo is a popular tourist destination, known for its architecture, wine vineyards, and local hospitality, as well as for being home to Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo.
